My digital front end is a Rega Isis Valve and I’ve been using it for some time (couple of years) with an StackAudio’s Link II as a Roon endpoint. While impressive and so so convenient – Link II / USB configuration never sounded quite as good as local CD source – blind test I could reliably tell a difference. The former having a marginally flatter soundstage, a slight digital sheen and lacking the exquisite organic voicing / musicality of CD’s played directly on the Rega Isis.
