The Chester Group’s UK Audio Show 2023 took place over the weekend of Oct 7th and 8th at the Staverton Park Hotel near Daventry. Paul from Solid-Sounds was there demonstrating his new open-baffle HEX3 loudspeakers sitting on Stack Audio AUVA 70 loudspeaker isolators in a syndicate room evoking his own “Spinning Room” listening space in a 19th Century textile mill in Leeds. Making up the system was a custom-built Garrard 401 turntable with Alphason HR-200S tonearm, Whest Titan phono stage, Bel Canto amplification all sitting Solid-Sound racks along with a set of AUVA 50s pressed into service under the Garrard.
John from Stack Audio visited the show on the first day. He says it’s a friendly and relaxed show where you get to see many less-known specialist brands and suppliers as well as the big names. Vinyl was much in evidence, with many turntables, arms, cartridges, phono-stages featured along with the chance to buy records and accessories on the day. There was a wide variety of loudspeakers (brands and designs) along with valve amplifiers as well as digital and solid-state electronics. All in all, a great event and something a bit different in the UK hi-fi calendar.
