LINK II and LINK Linear PSU 18v 1.6amp

LINK II and VOLT Linear PSU 18v 1.6amp

The LINK II is a bridge between music files from all sources and a DAC with a USB connection. Music files can be on PCs and laptops, connected NAS drives on home networks with carefully archived CD libraries, internet radio and subscription services like Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify. The LINK can take all these files and feed them into an existing hi-fi system.

The LINK II is supplied with the VOLT external linear power supply which complements the LINK’S internal S Power PSU. As a linear power supply, the VOLT avoids the high-frequency noise that can be produced by switch-mode type power supplies and can washback and affect the performance of other components in a hi-fi system. It also filters external mains induced noise for a cleaner sound.

The output from the LINK II is connected by cable to a USB equipped DAC. The LINK can also re-clock the USB input from a USB 2 compatible MAC/Computer or laptop.

“Theo,

I just wanted to let you know that I am very much enjoying my LINK II and the ossciated Linear PSU. I bought the units to use in my bedroom headphone system and they work great there, but I thought I would try them out in my main system as well just for fun. My main system is reasonably high end (pass Labs XA 25 Amp, Devore Fidelity O/96 speakers, DCS bartok DAC, Innous Zenith MK3 music server, etc.).

In the main system, I usually play files/streaming services using Roon through the Bartok’s internal streamer connected over Ethernet to the network. To do a comparison with the LINK II, I connected the LINK II (powered by the the LINK Linear PSU) to the network over Ethernet and then to the Bartok over USB – again streaming using Roon from the Zenith. I had trouble hearing any difference as compared to the Bartok’s internal streamer – and this is a real credit to the LINK II because it was connected over USB and DCS says that the Bartok performs better over its Ethernet connection – so the Bartok’s internal streamer had a built in advantage. And, of course, from a price point/value standpoint, the LINK II really stands out to be anywhere close the the performance of the Bartok internal streamer. I could happily use the LINK II in my main system without ever thinking I need to go back to the Bartok’s internal streamer.

Great product, congratulations on it.”

“The law of diminishing returns seems to have been made for the Hi-Fi world.. Not with Stack Audio, for a modest outlay I have got a thoroughly modernised deck that sounds spectacularly better in every way!”

The Stack Audio LINK is the new streamer in my audio system.

As an old technophobe, I expected set up complications but it was simplicity itself.

In a few minutes I was up and running with a splendid control app and a sound that was deep and full, with refined instrumental timbre and timing which was above all realistic and musical.

Highly recommended.

The Link is a really a great product. I have been using mine for about a year and for me a great product is a combination of performance, value for money, build and customer service.

I would like to congratulate Stack Audio for achieving all of the above. In the first month or so of ownership I had some queries, mainly about the original software and Theo and the team were very responsive and helpful.

I moved to the Link from a £2,000 plus streaming DAC where the support for the streaming platform from a well-known high-end audio company was coming to an end. The Link coupled with a decent USB DAC easily outperforms my previous streamer.

So, if you are looking for an audiophile quality network bridge, check out the Link, it looks great, gets out of the way of the music and punches well above its price bracket. It also plays nice with Roon and Audirvana.
