Why did you choose SERENE components?

I decided I wanted to assemble and LP12 from scratch and the SERENE components seemed like a great way to maximise the performance of the new deck without having to spend excessive money like if I’d bought all Linn original parts.

Why did you decide to do the install yourself?

As above, I wanted to assemble an LP12 from scratch, just for the fun of it!

Overall, how easy did you find the installation?

There is nothing particularly difficult about the installation, but it pays to be slow and methodical to make sure everything is correct at each step

Approximately how long did the install take?

I slowly chipped away at it over a couple of weeks in my workshop.

Did you change any other components at the same time? (e.g.: bearing, arm, cartridge etc)

Absolutely everything!

Are you happy with the result?

I’m ecstatic with the result. It looks fantastic, sounds fantastic and I just want to keep on playing records.

What was the trickiest bit?

Nothing to do with the Stack Audio parts was tricky, the trickiest bit was just tweaking the springs to get the bounce right which would be the same for any LP12. And this was only really tricky as I hadn’t done it before so took quite a bit of time to tune it and I was never quite sure I was doing it the right way but got there in the end!

Would you service/install it again yourself or take it to a dealer?

I would happily service/install again myself.

What advice would you give to someone who is starting out installing the parts for the first time?

Find instructions (such as those from Cymbiosis) read them twice, then keep them handy as you step through the install. Take each step slowly and it really is hard to get wrong.
