“As a newcomer to the world of audiophile I wanted a component to be the heart of my digital system . I’m not going to explain technical aspects as, to be honest, I couldn’t rather my gut honest opinion. I came across the Stack Audio LINK by chance and saw it was a British made product and had design input from John Westlake. I was weighing this up with the Bluesound Node but I took the leap of faith and ordered the Stack Audio LINK.
First impressions on delivery (a story I’ll describe below ) was the impeccable build quality. This thing is solid and hefty, which in my opinion is a good thing!! This is up there with Chord products that cost double/triple the price.
Setup was a breeze , was able to connect in minutes. I applaud Stack for not trying to build their own software (been stung in the past) but instead going with a well trusted open source software. The interface is clean and the ability to attach a CD drive and rip CDs is a great although it would be great to see able to RIP to a NAS (software update).
I use my LINK with a Project S2 DAC feeding a second hand Cyrus 8 amp and for me the upgrade to my previous system is chalk and cheese . I also feed a Chord Mojo with even more impressive results imo. For me the fact the LINK is Roon Ready joining some illustrious and expensive companies is no small feat for a small British company’s first streaming product. I was able to stream MQA streams(24/192).
I’m yet to try the USB detox but I’m sure I would not be disappointed.
Finally a small note for Theo who was a godsend when the courier lost my delivery. Theo handled, contacted them and arranged a redelivery. All this while I’m living in Australia!! Great customer service.
Highly recommended product and company.”
