“The Link II is a fantastic streamer that does not get in the way of the music, instead adding to a greater sense of satisfaction and enjoyment to my music listening, all the while remaining a stable and effective Roon endpoint.

 

I wanted to write to give my impressions of the Stack Audio Link II streamer.  I actually upgraded my Link streamer to a Link II.  I dealt directly with Theo Stack in returning the Link and having it upgraded, including purchasing the new LPS.  Theo is a genuinely nice guy, and it was a pleasure to deal with him. He always responded personally and quickly to my emails, providing updates on the upgrade. The upgrade was accomplished in a timely fashion despite the covid pandemic and all the difficulties that it has brought.

 

I’ve been using the upgraded Link II for a couple of months now, and I think it has been a very worthwhile and noticeable upgrade to the original Link.  I highly recommend the Link II, and think it is an outstanding streamer that performs way above its affordable price point.

 

The Link II uses the same attractive aluminum case as the original Link which exudes quality, and it is sturdy and weighty for its small size. Theo let me know Stack Audio had developed a new LPS, which I purchased. The LPS is also very well built and feels solid, and is relatively inexpensive.  I think the LPS delivers a noticeable boost to the performance of the Link II.  The build quality of both units is excellent.  The Link II also fixes a problem that I had with the aluminum cover of the front facing USB port which kept slipping off on the original Link. Theo let me know they addressed this problem, and the aluminum cover on the Link II now stays fixed in place when not in use.  Another example of the attention to detail to customer  service, and to the build and performance of the unit.

 

The Link II was incredibly easy to set up and integrated perfectly into my system.  I use the Link II as a Roon endpoint connected via wired ethernet and USB into my Chord Mscaler and DAC.  It’s very simple to operate. The Link II connected to my network without any problem and Roon discovered it right away. I’ve never experienced any issues using the Link II, and it’s operation has been flawless.

 

The Link II improves on the original Link in all ways.  It lowers the noise floor significantly which helps to bring added detail, punchiness and resolution to the music, but also helps to maintain musicality and refinement.  The Link II is primarily silent and transparent, and it allows my Chord DAC to shine and perform at its best.  The Link II is a fantastic streamer that does not get in the way of the music, instead adding to a greater sense of satisfaction and enjoyment to my music listening, all the while remaining a stable and effective Roon endpoint.
